1. Iron Mountain Hot Springs (Glenwood Springs, CO) – Our Favorite!

Why We Love It: The ultimate relaxation experience with stunning riverfront views.

Nestled along the banks of the Colorado River, Iron Mountain Hot Springs offers a luxurious and peaceful soaking experience. With 16 different mineral pools, each varying in temperature (from 98°F to 108°F), it’s easy to find your perfect spot to unwind. The setting is intimate, with a spa-like ambiance, and the views of the river and surrounding mountains make it feel like a true retreat.

Pros:

✅ Variety of pools at different temperatures✅ Beautiful riverfront location✅ Relaxing atmosphere—adults-only areas available✅ Poolside beverage service

Cons:

❌ Can get crowded, especially on weekends❌ More expensive than some other options

2. Ouray Hot Springs (Ouray, CO) – Best for Families & Views

Why We Love It: Mountain views and multiple pools make this a perfect mix of fun and relaxation.

Located in the charming town of Ouray, Ouray Hot Springs is surrounded by the dramatic San Juan Mountains, offering some of the best views of any hot spring in Colorado. This location has a mix of family-friendly and adults-only soaking areas, as well as a lap pool, a waterslide, and shallow soaking pools. It’s a fantastic spot for families, couples, or anyone looking for a laid-back hot spring experience.

Pros:

✅ Stunning mountain views✅ Large pools with space to spread out✅ Family-friendly features like slides and lap lanes✅ More affordable than some other options

Cons:

❌ Not as private or intimate as Iron Mountain❌ Fewer natural mineral pools—more of a developed resort feel

3. Glenwood Hot Springs Resort (Glenwood Springs, CO) – Best for Size & Swimming

Why We Love It: The largest hot spring pool in the world!

If you love big pools and plenty of space to swim, Glenwood Hot Springs Resort is for you. This massive geothermal pool stays at a comfortable 90°F to 93°F year-round, while the therapy pool reaches a hotter 104°F. While it doesn’t have the same intimate vibe as Iron Mountain, the sheer size and history of this hot spring make it a must-visit.

Pros:

✅ Largest hot spring pool in the world—great for swimming✅ Family-friendly with water slides (seasonal)✅ Located in downtown Glenwood Springs, near shops and restaurants

Cons:

❌ More of a swimming pool feel than a natural hot spring experience❌ Can be loud and busy, especially in peak season

4. Strawberry Park Hot Springs (Steamboat Springs, CO) – Most Rustic & Secluded

Why We Love It: A natural, off-the-grid hot spring experience.

For those looking for a more rustic, off-the-beaten-path hot spring, Strawberry Park Hot Springs is a hidden gem in Steamboat Springs. Surrounded by the forest, these natural pools have a peaceful, remote feel that makes for a magical experience. At night, the springs become clothing-optional, so be aware if visiting after dark.

Pros:

✅ Beautiful, natural setting✅ Hotter pools than some other locations✅ Feels like a true wilderness escape

Cons:

❌ Dirt road access—can be difficult in winter❌ No cell service, no frills—very rustic❌ Clothing-optional at night (could be a pro or con, depending on preference)

Final Thoughts

Each of these Colorado hot springs offers something unique, whether you’re looking for luxury and relaxation (Iron Mountain), family-friendly fun (Ouray and Glenwood), or a rustic retreat (Strawberry Park). While Iron Mountain tops our list for its spa-like atmosphere and variety of pools, every one of these hot springs is worth a visit.
